About Us
Majestic Horse Floats was first incorporated as a company in 1938 based in Palmerston North. Throughout the years the ownership has changed, but the Palmerston North branch has always remained and is now joined with the seven other New Zealand wide depots. The current owner John Kenny started at Otaki in 1973 as a float driver, when the company was owned by Bill Reeves and Earl Cunningham. John moved to Te Awamutu in 1980 to manage the takeover of Selfs Transport and then to Takanini in 1983, for the combined takeover of Thoroughbred Horse Transport (Takanini and Waikato-based) and the White Star Horse Transport. The head office was relocated to Auckland and also signalled a time to upgrade a tiring fleet. Bill Reeves passed away in 1992 but the company remained in family ownership until 1996 when John purchased 50% shareholding and in 2003 acquired the remaining 50% of the company. Majestic Horse Floats and Interisland Horse Transport worked very closely together over a number of years and John took the opportunity to purchase Interisland Horse Transport and combine the companies together to offer a first-class horse transport facility in New Zealand. Thank you for sharing our website with us. John Kenny
